Making changes to lessen the impact: The April bond plan is $47.5 million less than the November 2023 plan! Many items that were in the 2023 bond plan have been eliminated in the new proposal to better align with the community’s desire to focus on academics. https://www.desotopsb.com/o/desoto-parish-schools/page/nd-bond-24-the-plan

On Saturday, April 13th, freshmen, sophomores, and seniors from DeSoto Parish's school district came together with NAUW's Manfield Branch and the DeSoto Parish School Board’s Wellness Team for an event called GLOW. The young ladies brought their passion for personal growth and leadership to this annual gathering! During the event, the girls took part in icebreakers, a panel discussion on various careers, sessions on scholarships and emotional wellness, and they even created vision boards. Local sorority members from different sororities set up displays to share information about their organizations. Additionally, an army recruiter was present to speak to the participants, and there was also information available about local colleges. To keep everyone energized, lunch was prepared by the DeSoto Sheriff's Office. #TheDeSotoDifference

Thank you, Empower Schools, for providing us with the opportunity to explore the significance of community engagement and partnerships. This valuable learning will allow us to center on future growth of our career and technical opportunities. It was an exciting day at Rural Alliance Zone 32's Vision Corner grand opening! Three rural school districts joined forces for career-focused learning. Union City students now have a downtown hub for job skills, including a t-shirt shop, TV, and radio stations. Adults and businesses can also explore vocational skills and entrepreneurship here. #TheDeSotoDifference.

Superintendent Corley responds to questions about tax statements and clears up how to use the tax calculator to check your impact if the April 27 North DeSoto Bond Plan is approved. The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 22 would result in an annual increase of $414 per year or $34.50 per month. https://youtu.be/tQnAKoEE-iI

Important Update: Regular Day of Instruction replaces Virtual Instruction: Monday April, 15: Due to yesterday’s dismissal and the limited number of quality instructional days remaining in the school year, we will shift our mode of instruction from virtual to a regular day of face-to-face instruction on Monday, April 15. This adjustment will require us to forgo Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences. If your family is in need of a conference time, please contact your student’s school to schedule a conference for a later date. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make this adjustment in the best interest of student learning.
