Logansport High School honored Head Coach Kevin Magee on Thursday, November 7th for reaching a remarkable career milestone of 100 wins. The celebration comes after Coach Magee led the Tigers to a 55-0 victory over LaSalle last Friday, continuing his legacy as a cornerstone of Logansport’s athletic success.
A Logansport Tiger through and through, Coach Magee has the rare distinction of winning a state championship both as a player and as a coach at the same school. Taking over the program in 2014, he inherited a team that had finished 2-8 the previous year. In just one season, Coach Magee laid the foundation for a championship-caliber team, leading the Tigers to a 7-5 record and an appearance in the regional round of the playoffs. His leadership and dedication drove the team forward, culminating in an 8-5 finish and a quarterfinal appearance the following season.
By 2016, just two years after taking the helm, Coach Magee led Logansport to a flawless 16-0 season and a state championship—the school’s second since 1995, when he himself was the Tigers’ quarterback. Since that historic win, Coach Magee has guided the Tigers to three semi-final appearances, three quarter final finishes, and another 1A state championship game appearance in 2021 at the Superdome.
“Coach Magee’s dedication to excellence and high performance has shaped our student-athletes into skilled players and strong leaders, embodying the very best of DeSoto Parish Schools’ values,” said DeSoto Parish Schools Superintendent Clay Corley. “We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and the positive impact he continues to have on our students and community.”
Coach Magee’s career milestone is a testament to his commitment to excellence and to Logansport High School’s tradition of athletic pride and resilience.
Congratulations, Coach Magee, on reaching 100 wins! We look forward to many more victories under your guidance.
