On November 18, voters in Logansport (District no. 1) approved a $23 million building bond proposal focused on safety, security, and modernization of current facilities.

Vote totals are:

  • Yes - 470
  • No - 430

Thank you to everyone who participated in the November 18 election and cast an informed ballot!

Because the bond was approved, the plan can move forward to construct a central corridor with secure access points, provide updates to the stadium and gymnasium area, and add spaces that will eliminate the need for mobile classrooms and provide more effective and efficient spaces for our programming.

The major renovation to the main concourse, known as Tiger Central, will tie the instructional buildings together in a modern and supportive environment that can be used by the community and create a sense of pride in the school. This area will serve as the gateway to our school and reflect the culture of our school community while greatly increasing security by limiting access points.

Funds will also eliminate the need for mobile classrooms and improve safety, security, and programming for our pre-K programs and administrative offices. Traffic patterns would be greatly impacted by the plans, creating easier access not only to events but also to day-to-day life at Logansport.

Simply put, funds will be used to provide safe, modern, and innovative spaces that will be used by our students every day.

We know not everyone voted the same way, but we are all united in the belief that it is our responsibility to set a positive example for the young people of our community and that we all want what is best for them. The DeSoto Parish School Board will continue to communicate and collaborate through the next steps in the process.
